Voodoo is one of the many trails in the Phil's trail system in Bend Oregon.
The trail is aproximately 3.5 miles long and is craved out of lava rocks. The rocks create a lot of tight areas to monuver through. Voodoo is catagorized as a black diamond difficulty level, and is considered one of the more techinical trails within the trail system. We think it's called Voodoo because it is very difficult to get through. My dad and I have been riding this trail for five years and I have only ever completed it one time without crashing.
One of the technical spots on Voodoo is the "tree drop off". My dad and I named it that because after you jump a two foot drop-off, you immediatley need to avoid a tree at the bottom, or you'll crash head first into it. Not far from the "tree drop off" there is a section with two fifty degree climbs in a row, between huge boulders. Because Voodoo has such quick, tight turns, it requires a lot of concentration and balance, as a result, it is not considered a "fast" trail.
Phil's trail is mananged by a non-profit organization called COTA. COTA stands for Central Oregon Trail Alliance. All trails are taken care of by volunteers who work very hard throughout the season to keep the trails perfect shape. Everyone who rides the Phil's trail system apprectiates COTA's hard work.
